TEEMA was launched in 1981, succeeding the popular KILTA series, with some minor adjustments made by its original designer Kaj Franck. The most prominent changes are their larger size and the straighter lines of the conical forms. Teema developed into a tableware service, rather than a series of objects, such as the Kilta items, that could be combined with other tableware.  In 2005, new changes were made to Teema, when Iittala adopted it as part of its own international brand.
